FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I receive material from the Xavier Society?
Simply call us or write us, and once we have verified that you are eligible, you can start receiving materials immediately.
Is there any charge for your services?
No - since 1900, when the Xavier Society for the Blind was founded, all our services have been provided at no cost.
Can I contribute online?
Yes - go to the "Contributions & Tickets" page on this web site, and at the top of the page is a link that will take you to our secure payment option. We accept Visa, Discover, and Mastercharge credit cards.
Are you going to be offering recordings in digital, on CD's?
As of January 1, 2010 our audio materials have been primarily on mp3 CD's. We are still in the process of translating our library from analog recordings to digital, and so some of our library offerings are still available on tape. All periodicals are now available only in mp3 format.
I have a friend who is blind. How can I get your materials for him?
Simply call us up or have your friend call, and we can take the necessary information, and help you or your friend through the registration process. After that, it is simply asking for what books or periodicals you want, and we will be sending them out to you.
Has the current financial crisis hurt the Xavier Society?
Just like almost every else, it has. We have a little money invested, and although we have done better than many organizations, we have lost some value. However, because of the excellent work of the people who work for us and with us, we hope we will not have to use that fund. As long as contributions keep up, we can wait for the economic recovery we all hope and pray for without having to cash in any of our invested funding.
Do you have materials in Spanish?
We don't right now, but we are working on opening a Spanish language section, hopefully before the end of the year. If you have periodicals or books you think we should have in our Spanish language service, we would certainly appreciate hearing from you.
